Genie boom lifts are all over construction sites in most cities. But what happens to them when a consortium of 3 U of M trained designers and architects totally rethink what they can do – beyond construction? The group won a design competition for Toronto’s Gardiner Expressway that’ll decorate the boom lifts with googly eyes, wrap them in sparkling vinyl, give them playful names and put them in Pride, Halloween and Santa Parades.
